Merger completed as Korda Networks celebrates milestone

The merger of Farice, Öryggisfjarskipti and the technical operations of Neyðarlínan, Iceland’s emergency response service, is complete, and the combined company has begun operating as Korda Networks. The company formally commenced operations on 1 September, bringing together the operations of Iceland’s critical telecommunications and public safety infrastructure.

Daði Már Kristófersson, Minister of Finance, Marta Eiríksdóttir, Chairman of the Board of Korda Networks, and Þorvarður Sveinsson, the company’s CEO, celebrated the milestone at a reception at Korda’s headquarters on Friday, 2 October, where they addressed guests.

The merger brings telecommunication specialist expertise in international carrier services and critical telecommunications systems under a single management structure to improve efficiency and strengthen operational resilience. Korda operations include submarine cables connecting Iceland to the rest of the world, the TETRA public safety communications network, and the technical systems supporting Neyðarlínan and emergency responders throughout Iceland.
